The University of Washington’s newest student housing complex, “Mercer Court,” was designed to resemble an open hand, with the palm as the community plaza. This gathering space links five strategically placed dormitory “fingers” that feature rooftop terraces, as well as open-plan, ground floor community living rooms. The space is complete with pool tables, fireplace, kitchen and studying areas, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows to retain the outdoor connection.
A-Light’s D3 | accolade 3 can be found surface-mounted in the student housing hallways and elevator areas, as well as the recreational pool table area. Suspended D3 | accolade3 fixtures illuminate the kitchen and countertop eating space. Wider G5 | architrave5 fixtures illuminate a more intimate TV lounge. D5 | accoalde5 fixtures are recessed into the high wood slat ceiling in the fireplaced living/great room, as well as inside the Husky Grind, a retail coffee shop conveniently located in one of the Mercer buildings.
