Coffee Bar crafts itself as a workshop to explore, experiment, and embrace the trends of the coffee industry. After finding success in their original Mission District location, the company wished to have a presence in downtown San Francisco. One of the driving goals of the design was to create a space for baristas to provide “coffee without compromise”- an artisan, slow-food, experience on pace with the Financial District.
Materials were kept to a minimum so as to not overwhelm the small space, which is just under 500-sq-ft. Concrete rises up from the floor. The staggered, high-efficiency D3 | accolade3 fixtures are recessed into the maplewood ceiling, creating a glowing wood shell which drapes down to the white Caesarstone counter, almost as a proscenium frames a stage. This gesture highlights the 14 ft plus ceiling height of the space and takes advantage of the expansive storefront, catching the eye of pedestrians. The linear D3 | accolade3 fixtures perfectly complement the minimal design, creating clean lines and an inviting atmosphere, where a slow-food experience can be enjoyed in an extremely fast-paced environment.
